Hi Everyone!

We had our daughters birthday party this past weekend and I was definitely lacking in the preparation department. Usually I am planning out her party for at least 4 weeks or so – this year I think I had about 4 or 5 days, and not full days either – pretty much just my evenings since I work full time.

I needed a quick treat to put in the loot bags so I purchased a lemon cake mix, a can of buttercream frosting, blue sugar and pretty cupcake liners {actually the liners are for Easter, but they were just too cute that I couldn’t pass them up}

It takes about 5 minutes to whip up a cake mix right?

I used regular cupcake liners in my muffin tins and then when the cupcakes were baked and cooled I placed them in these fancy liners. I piped on the frosting using a frosting bag and tip – nothing fancy, I’m definitely not a cake decorator I just piped it around in circles working from the outside in until the top of the cupcake was covered. Sprinkle on coloured sugar and you’re done!

I also picked up these clear bags at the dollar store – 24 for $1 – fantastic!

Put you cupcake inside and they are all nice and packaged…you could take it a step further and make a pretty tag or add ribbon but like I said, I was pressed for time!

These were going inside a loot bag and would be ripped open and eaten anyways, so I figured why bother dressing it up.

Still they look great and they took no time at all!!
