And here’s my project. I picked up this tray at good will ages ago, it sat and sat as most things do until I have a bright idea!

I gave it 3 coats of black chalkboard paint and then 3 coats of a honey yellow.

I cut out this vinyl stencil with my silhouette and placed it on the painted tray.

And then I gave it another coat of yellow, this will eliminate any chance of bleeding under the stencil when I paint the letters with the black chalkboard paint.

And here’s the coat of black. I put a few coats on to get it nice and black.

Then I distressed with sand paper…

Looks great!

And I love the edges.

And now onto the planter. I picked up this cute owl planter and these artificial ferns at Michaels. The planter was so cute, I couldn’t resist.

I’ve had this foam block around for a while as you can see by it’s discoloration! But it’s still good…I cut it to the size I needed.

The artificial ferns were neatly wrapped in raffia and I left them that way.

I was much easier to get a sturdy grip in the foam.

I needed a nice top coat for the planter so moss it was!

I love the end result, it’s a beautiful spring accent!
