Oh, the warmth and coziness of Fall. We all decorate inside for Fall or Halloween but some of us leave our outside just the same as it’s always been but a few easy decorating ideas can add amazing WOW factor to you homes curb appeal this Fall.

The first thing I did was string these orange lights on my stairs using a staple gun. The staples keep the lights nice and secure so little trick or treater’s don’t trip up!

We have had a very warm Fall so some of my summer annuals are still in bloom but I did pick up a couple of mum’s and placed them in vibrant yellow wooden planters which I painted this Fall.

I picked up a pumpkin and placed it on the step…I could use a couple more!

I’ve had this cute little Autumn rake for years, something that I purchased on clearance after the season had passed. This is a good way to build your decor – buy out of season!

I made this wreath myself with a grape-vine wreath and artificial flowers and leaves.

The garland around the door is made up of 3 dollar store garlands, orange mini lights, and organza also from the dollar store.

The scarecrows also came from the dollar store, I just stuck them into the pots!

Halloween Decor 2012

at  Alderberry Hill

This year I have added turquoise to my Halloween decor, just a touch of the famous blue goes a long way. And it mixes so well with orange but I thought I’d use red in this display along with silver for a modern Halloween feel!

I picked up the Halloween Tree at Michaels and decided on simple bats cut with my Silhouette Machine as decoration for the tree.

I coated them with Mod Podge and sprinkled red, silver & turquoise glitter on them and adhered them to the tree with double sided tape.

I didn’t have any real old fashioned keys so I made a set!

I cut them out with my Silhouette and covered them in glitter too!

Remember the Halloween Glass Blocks I made a couple of weeks back? Well, I was left with a stencil that I used to create this wooden sign. I cut a piece of pine down to size and sanded the edges.

Then…

1. Paint white/cream and let dry

2. Adhere your stencil to the wood (my vinyl was adhesive so I stuck right on, but you can use spray adhesive on your stencil too)

3. Paint your letters black

4. Distress with a little black paint

I am in love, it turned out so good!

I picked up this cute frame from Goodwill, it wasn’t always turquoise & there was a terrible canvas print in the frame with no glass. So I spray painted the entire thing, canvas and all and added the sweet “Happy Halloween” which I cut with my Silhouette Machine.

I made the Halloween wreath using cupcake liners last year. You can view the tutorial here.

I added in my Glitzy Halloween Coffin, tutorial here.

This little bird house was hanging out in storage so I spooked it up with a little turquoise, silver & black paint and gave it some height by placing it on a candle stick holder.

And the look is complete!

This little nook is in my craft room, I’m all ready for Halloween!

When witches go riding,

and black cats are seen,

the moon laughs and whispers,

‘tis near Halloween.

Bring Fall to your TV Room

206 thumb Bring Fall to your TV Room

Hi Everyone. Today I’m going to share how I added Fall decor to my TV Room.

This area of the room always gets forgotten when decorating because usually there are things laid on the credenza like the kids toys and DVD’s.

I so happy to have given it a mini makeover!

All of the items I used I already had in the house with the exception of the wooden ornaments on the branch & the pumpkin.

This room is off of my kitchen, it had remained pretty plain for years. I had the same pictures above the TV for 5 years and I have never placed anything on the TV credenza other than the TV  (but that didn’t stop my kids from laying things there!)

Here is what I did.

I grabbed a vase and filled it with pine cones and acorns, put a twig from the yard in the vase and hung the prettiest wooden leaf & pumpkin ornaments.

The black bowl to the right was one that I spray painted last year. I turned it upside down and placed the pumpkin on top.

I removed the pictures from the frame and replaced with cardstock maple leaves that I cut out with my Silhouette machine. There were 2 more frames on this wall but I removed those and put up this shelf that I’ve had for years but never used (I actually have another one too!).

I made these topiaries several years ago, the pots used to be yellow. I spray painted them turquoise, they look so much nicer now.

I love how a little of the yellow shows through.

I placed a fall wreath in one of the cubbies of the credenza and the look is complete!
