In honor of the Silhouette Giveaway,
today I am sharing a tutorial on how to make a 3D Christmas Countdown.
Are you as excited as I am for the Silhouette Giveaway? Who would love a Silhouette Cameo? and right before Christmas too! I cannot think of a better early Christmas present than a Silhouette Cameo.
I absolutely love mine, and it definitely gets a work out especially this time of year.
I downloaded the file from the Silhouette Shop, you can find it here.
Here is a list of the paper that I used:
4-sheets of 12 x 12 white card stock {to make the shadow box & sides}
13-sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 white cardstock. {to make the individual box shape – 2 boxes per sheet}
1-sheet of patterned cardstock {for the front of the box}
1-8 1/2 x 3 coloured cardstock {for the numbers}
When you open your file it will open all of the shapes at the same time. I ungrouped my shapes and cut whatever I could fit on one page at a time.
To ungroup click edit, select all, then object, ungroup.
Here is a series of pictures to show what my screen looked like when I was cutting the files.
Back
Top
Inner Frame
Outer Frame
Individual Box
Numbers
Box Front
First I started with the inner frame, fold along all perforations.
Use double sided tape to attach each piece as in the pictures below.
Then adhere the back to the inner frame, this is what it should look like now.
Repeat the same process for the outer frame, just fold in the opposite direction. Use double sided tape to attach the outer frame to the inner frame. Then attach your top, this gives a clean front, so there are no seams showing. Now you have a shadow box.
I then put my individual boxes together. Fold along all perforations.
It’s a little hard to see in a picture how these boxes go together but once you play with it a little you’ll figure out the steps easily.
Then glue the fronts on the boxes. And then the numbers.
Place the boxes in the frame and voila your finally finished!
It is a long project but so worth it!
Add little toys from the Dollar Store or mini treats!
Make sure to come back on Thursday for the Silhouette Giveaway!
