DIY: Altered Notebook with Mini File Folders

1 PM007 DIY: Altered Notebook with Mini File Folders
This altered notebook is for my daughter.
School is right around the corner and I
thought it would be  cute for her to have
a notebook that she could use for friends
phone number and addresses
but was also big enough for her doodles and
all the fun things that her and her friends do together.
As a tween they love to write everything
down from favorite teachers
to favorite outfits…and perhaps some
not so favorite things too!
DIY: Altered Notebook with Mini File Folders

The free file this week from Silhouette was a file folder. How perfect!
I re-sized it to my preference and cut them
out on patterned scrapbook paper.
I picked up a notebook at the Dollar Store.

Here are the mini file folders in
comparison to my hand, so cute!

I covered the notebook with scrapbook paper and added
a scalloped boarder to the top and bottom.
I cut a label also with the Silhouette, I left it blank so
my daughter could personalize it herself.

I glued the mini file folders on the pages, about every 8
pages or so. She can keep things that they make
during recess or little trinkets in them.

I covered the back of the notebook as well.

This is a quick and easy project that you can
do with your daughter or her & her
friends can do together!

  21. Super cute! I bet your daughter love it. My daughter is 18 and starting college next week but was STILL excited about shopping for school supplies the other day. I don’t think they ever grow out of wanted notebooks and binders to doodle on. I too love office supplies. Maybe it’s just a girl thing. lol Thanks for sharing.

  22. Very cute! Young girls should love these.

  24. Hi Sarah,
You have already been to my blog this morning, but I just wanted to let you know personally that I have featured you in today’s post. I love what you did with that spiral notebook. It is so cute, and I use notebooks and mole skins for all of my notes on upcoming post. I have been covering with fabric, but I think I am going to try this, because it is so cute. I love your blog, and link with your party every week.
    Have a great weekend!!!

  36. That is darling, Sarah! Love those mini file folders. Thanks for sharing! Your daughter is lucky to have a crafty mama. xo Jami

  37. Ohhh, this is SOO cute! What did you use to adhere the file folder to the cover of the notebook? I’ve tried to do something similar, but none of the glues I’ve tried have worked. I might try egg yolk (believe it or not, egg yolk is the best glue out there!). :D
