Oh, these were sooooo good.
And here’s a little secret….
they were not from scratch!
So they are definitely the easiest strawberry shortcakes I’ve ever made.
The whipped topping is Dream Whip which I am not sure is available in the US, perhaps it’s called something else. Basically, it is a powder mixed with 1/2 cup milk and a taste of vanilla extract. You whip it with your electric mixer and the result is a dream – hence Dream Whip!
You can use any type of whipped topping though, the result will be the same.
The cake is Bisquick biscuits…here’s the recipe:
2 1/4 cup of Bisquick mix
2/3 cup of milk
Heat oven to 450ºF. Stir ingredients until soft dough forms. Turn onto surface dusted with Bisquick mix. Knead 10 times. Roll dough 1/2 inch thick. Cut with 2 1/2-inch cutter. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown.
Just slice your fresh strawberries and dust the top with a little powdered sugar just to be fancy and there you have it!
This isn’t really a recipe, just a quick solution when you are stuck for a dessert.
And this dessert definitely has WOW factor, your guests will love it.
And it’s great for Valentine’s Day too!
Mmmmm….delish!
